Mentha is widely found in terai region of Nepal especially far west region. It was adopted and now cultivated for commercial purpose. It is a perennial herb, 60 cm high. Leaves are simple, opposite, short stalked, oblong, 2.5 to 5 cm long obtusely or acutely serrated. Flowers are small and lilac in auxiliary whorls. Fruits nutlets are smooth. It belongs to the family Labiatae.
